History of our involvement in Rocky Hill Regeneration!

Getting community involved in protecting our environment in Kooringal, Wagga Wagga

What started as a community issue in 2020 has led to a South Wagga Rotary Rocky Hill Regeneration involving members and community, being named Wagga’s Environmental Citizen in 2022 and NSW Environmental Citizen Runner-up and semifinalist in the 2022 Australian Community Achievement Awards!
Our journey started with a

2020 survey to determine community priorities

Survey Priorities

Survey participants valued:

  1. Removal of weeds,
  2. Native plants,
  3. Native animals,
  4. Safe access for families.

Volunteer Progress May 2020 to Current, now end of August 2024

Since applying for our first grant in May 2020, over 70 volunteers have removed tonnes of woody weeds and rubbish between October 2020 and May 2021, planted over 750 native plants, starting in May 2021 and  contributed well over 4000 hours between May 2020 and August 2023 achieving these goals.
